Perlas –
Baybayin is a lost Filipino writing system used pre-Spanish colonization.
One theory of its origin is that it was inspired by shapes of giant clams. I wanted to create a typeface from that idea. Using the world Perlas which means Pearl in english, I created this type using the shapes and curves of giant clams.
The word Perlas is also a nod to my home country as the Philippines is recognized as the Pearl of the Orient.
